Leonard Franklin Slye was born in Ohio on this date in 1911. He took up horse riding and guitar playing and an assumed name -- Roy Rogers -- and enjoyed some success way out there in Hollywood. He married a talented cowgirl named Dale Evans. There is a little town in Iowa named Evansdale. There really should be a town nearby called Rogersroy.
